Having achieved the ICCASkills Certified International Convention Specialist (CICS) accreditation, I was able to gain a comprehensive understanding of the convention industry. 

Despite my prior experience in the field, the course presented an excellent opportunity to supplement any knowledge gaps and familiarise myself with the latest industry trends. The incorporation of self-paced learning, weekly guest lectures, and assignments made the course both varied and informative, while also allowing me to connect with my peers, share best practices, and learn about the challenges they face.

The ICCASkills Certified International Convention Specialist (CICS) course was a great way for me to understand the Global Meetings Industry in a great deal of depth. It is the only global certification for the meetings industry which helps my profile to stand out. The opportunity to learn about destination marketing and promotion attracted me to this course. 

The CICS curriculum is carefully designed by industry executives who share their knowledge, both theoretical and practical, on various components within the meetings industry. I had the opportunity to learn about all the different components within the MICE industry such as organising and planning the onsite delivery of business events, managing and preparing bids, coordinating with hotels and venues for delegate accommodation, preparing event budgets and overall financial coordination, active promotion of events and destinations and conducting event audits. 

The most exciting part about the course was when I had the opportunity to attend the 61st ICCA Congress in Krakow in 2022 to receive my diploma at the recognition ceremony and meet with my fellow course mates and instructors and the rest of the ICCA family.
